Home Buying Tips
Are you ready to buy a new home? First time home buyer? Either
way, the first step is to evaluate your financial situation. What
do you owe? How much equity and savings do you have available?
What will show up on your credit report? Have you had a bankruptcy
in the last 2 years?
Next, talk to your lender. Ask them
to pre-qualify you or even to pre-approve you for a loan. Being
a pre-approved buyer can sometimes give you the edge when competing
with another buyer for a property.
Pick a good real estate company
and good agent to work for you in your search for the perfect
home!
Begin by checking out areas that
interest you. Visit Open Houses in the area to get an idea of
house prices. Make a list of things you want in your new home,
and then rate the items on the list from most important to least.
Keep track of the properties that
you see in a notebook. Some people even take Polaroids of each
house so that they can remember them later as they consider what
they liked and what they didn't.
There are many kinds of inspections
you can have when you've found the house you wish to purchase.
Plumbing, electrical, structural, roof, water, septic...you name
it. If there is a question, have it checked out by a professional.
